Hello CSD Students, Families and Staff Members,
Thank you all for your tremendous effort to support and encourage your student(s) during the shift to remote learning this previous two weeks. We understand that this is challenging for all involved, and we are just as eager as you are to see our students return to in-person learning. Our current plan is to have students resume in-person instruction following Spring Break on Monday, March 22.
We understand that CSD families may travel during the week of Spring Break, or may be staying home but interacting with others in our county. Given the nature of the recent outbreak at CSD and our strong desire to resume school face-to-face, and out of an abundance of concern for the safety of our students and staff, we are respectfully requesting that all students and staff members receive COVID-19 testing on Monday, March 22 from 7am – 8am prior to the start of the school day. Any student or staff member that has either a) tested positive for COVID-19 in the previous 90 days or b) who is fully vaccinated, does not need to undergo testing unless they are experiencing symptoms.
The test that will be performed Monday morning is a non-invasive, rapid test, called BinaxNow by Abbott Diagnostics. The nasal swab goes around the bottom part of your child’s interior nose, and should not be painful. Test results are achieved in 15-20 minutes. If your child is negative, and is not experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, they are welcome to enter the building and head down to their classroom. If your child has a positive result they – along with all household members – will need to go home and quarantine while awaiting further guidance from public health. If you would not like your child(ren) to be tested on Monday, March 22, the remote learning option will be available to you. Families who choose this option could then return to in-person learning on Monday, March 29, which allows you a full week to monitor your child(ren) for symptoms of COVID-19 following Spring Break.
For testing on Monday, March 22, from 7am – 8am, please remain in your vehicle and line up along the front entrance as you normally would for student drop-off. While we will have paperwork available to you, here are the forms speed along the process that morning. FORM 1 FORM 2 Once your child(ren) has been tested, you can pull into the parking lot area to wait for results via text or phone call.
Once again, our overall goal this school year is to be able to offer students a full time, in-person, learning option for those that would like it. In order for CSD to keep our doors open to students, we must take precautions to help prevent students and staff from entering the building when contagious with COVID-19.
Thank you and please reach out with any questions you may have,
Kate Michaels, CSD RN
