Common Sense Media released a new research report revealing that teens are constantly receiving and fielding notifications on their smartphones. According to the report, "Constant Companion: A Week in the Life of a Young Person's Smartphone Use," over half of participants received 237 or more notifications per day. Students aren’t just sneaking quick glances at their phones during class. They are spending an average of 1.5 hours on them every school day, with 25% of students logging on for more than 2 hours. This study suggests that significant portion of school time is spent on social media and entertainment, rather than on learning or academic activities.
