School Nurse

Kate Michaels has over 10 years of experience as a registered nurse, with careers in medical-surgical, family practice and public health nursing. She received her Bachelor’s degree in comparative sociology from
the University of Puget Sound before going on to earn her nursing degree locally at Trinidad State.

While originally from Milwaukie, Oregon, Kate and her husband (a Texas native) have called Creede home since 2004, and have three lively daughters that keep them on their toes.

Kate is a member of the Mineral County Search and Rescue team, and is certified in Wilderness First Aid and as a Whitewater Rescue Technician. Her hobbies include hiking, biking, hunting, camping, baking,
and helping others in her community. Kate also enjoys teaching Sunday school through the Creede Community Church, and volunteering as a soccer coach with Creede Parks and Rec.
